Berkshire Hathaway chairman Warren E. Buffett said in his annual letter to shareholders Thursday that he was seeking a new candidate to become chief investment officer when he steps down. Mr. Buffett also said his firm needs to pursue large acquisitions -- he called them "elephants" -- in order to put its cash to work, and was critical of hedge funds, calling their fee structures "grotesque."
