Paulson Wants to Ease Sarbanes-Oxley Burden

U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. said he is looking at ways to ease the demands of the Sarbanes-Oxley corporate governance law, class-action lawsuits and aggressive enforcement that are overwhelming some U.S. companies.
“All of this has created an atmosphere that has made it more burdensome for companies to operate,” even though the “net result” of stricter reporting standards for corporate executives has been positive, Paulson told Bloomberg News.
